ESPN's Brackets offer few upsets, little excitement
This year's NCAA Tournament should be one of the craziest tournaments we have seen in a while. The Big East and ACC are made up of some of the strongest teams this year... but don't be fooled into picking the "strongest" teams too quickly.
If you are filling out brackets, here are a few things to watch out for: • I think Kansas -- because of their youth -- may battle to the elite eight or even better.
• Don't forget about Memphis. Their bracket has them meeting up with UConn, who hasn't been the same since loosing one of their best.
• Purdue and Duke are the other teams that were hot at the end of the season and could really wreck havoc on some brackets.
• The team that will go early is Pittsburgh. They are overrated. Sure, they beat #1 UConn -- twice -- but I just don't think they are as good as everyone is saying.
• And while we're on the subject, I would get rid of Syracuse too; They work hard, just not hard enough to go deep in the tourney.
• Don't count North Carolina as an "in" right away either. They are great, but something is telling me it could get ugly for them.
I think it is was ridiculous that ESPN's brackets had basically all #1's and #2's getting to the Final Four. No big upsets, nothing amazing. Teams are so good this year (or at least of equal caliber) that it is bound to be a mess by the end.
So what are your thoughts? Will it be all #1's and #2's in the finals or something more interesting? Will UNC get knocked-out early? Do you see any #1 or #2 seeds out in the first round?
