Most NCAA brackets still intact after 1st-round scares
Some Americans were sitting on their sofas last night awaiting President Obama's arrival on Jay Leno and others were chewing their fingernails down to nothing, waiting for upsets that could ruin every NCAA bracket in the nation.
Yesterday's 16 games started the NCAA tournament with a bang. As I had
previously written, I felt the talent this year was way to good to think that any team had it easy through their bracket. Last night proved it.
If you had a chance to watch yesterday, there were a few games that came down to the wire:
First off, if you have Memphis going all the way, man did you have a scare yesterday! If you had Villanova to the Elite Eight, did you almost wet yourself? And if you had a chance to see VCU play last night, you saw a true nail-biter. I had them winning that game and I felt like breaking my television as they traveled down the court, with only 12 seconds on the clock, gave it to Mr. Clutch and he throws up and air ball, as they lose by one.
Other than that it was pretty standard. I'm sorry, but victories from Michigan and A&M don't count.
Here is what I will leave you with -- After seeing Gonzaga play last night, would you change your bracket or did you have enough confidence in them to take them to the Elite Eight? Man, do they look strong. Of course, UConn and UNC stomped on their competition, but opponents of UConn now know what they need to do to beat them: Force the Huskies to shoot three pointers.
So what changes would you make? Are there things you would change for today's game? Any big upsets on today's list?
