Well, everyone has put their oysters on the table.  Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler and new head coach Josh McDaniels are playing a slick game of chess with, you guessed it, multiple media members (The Denver Post, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, etc.) as their pawns in efforts to win over the ever-so important court of public opinion in their "he said, he said" debate.

I won't go into the details (click here for the timeline), but in short, Cutler is playing the disrespected card after hearing his name coming up in multiple trade rumors.  After numerous meetings - on the phone, in-person with agent present - most of the discussion seems to be playing out in headlines and blogs.  Cutler wants be traded, McDaniels says he wants Cutler as the Broncos quarterback... yada, yada, yada... Cutler still wants to be traded.  Each side, go figure, has a completely different interpretation of the events that transpire through these interactions.

Now, profootballtalk.com is reporting that a league source says the cure for these ills is to simply give Cutler a new contract, which is the apparent solution conjured about by Cutler's agent, Bus Cook (again, go figure).

This particular "QB controversy" has already gotten too much attention.  I'm disappointed in multiple, professional (aka, paid) columnists tossing around playground insults, referring to Cutler as "whining" and "crying".  I guess they do have a right to be name-calling; I mean, where would a good ole' country boy with a rocket for a right arm get the idea he could manipulate his situation by playing to various media outlets? (ahem... Brett Favre... ahem)

While the coverage has been saturated and disappointing, I'll be even more disappointed if this was really just about Cutler trying to cash in.  Talk about a disrespect card.
