Here we sit, a mere three and four months respectively from the releases of EA's NCAA Football 2010 and Madden 2010 and I, for one, couldn't be happier. You see, I live my life around the release date of these franchise titles. In case you are wondering, yes I have pre-ordered both of them already.

All of my fellow die-hards have been following these babies since the day after NCAA '09 and Madden '09 hit the shelves. But let's take a look at some of the new features being added to this year's version of the games.

NCAA 2010
Pocket Protection- Gone are the days of the DE making a great spin move only to be taken down in a big heap by a large OT and not have any impact on the play whatsoever. EA has decided to create a true pocket feel. You will see the OT's move an end right around the quarterback if he speed rushes, which truly does form the "pocket" we all crave for. Also look for more bull rushing from DT's up front (look out guards who take on Ndamokong Suh!).

Defensive Player Lock- Ever wanted to be someone other then a DT and actually make a play on defense? Well, EA this year has come up with the Defensive Player Lock, which activates when you pick any player from the back 7. You pick a LB and the camera then rotates 180 degrees to show you the play from the defensive side of the ball. Your defensive area on that specific play then pops up and away you go. Also, for those like me, who aren't very good at D. Hit the A button and SHAAM-WOW, the player starts heading back into the position he is supposed to be in.

Edit-A-Conference- Sick and tired of Notre Dame? Me too! Put them in the SEC so they can finally get clobbered week-in and week-out. Want to make a super conference with the 10-12 best teams? Go right ahead, with Edit Conference you can put together whatever match-ups your heart desires. (Also works in online dynasty so your friend can be North Carolina and you can be Michigan and play each other for conference bragging rights.)

Negative Recruiting- Want to see what it feels like to be Bob Stoops in real life? Now you can with the Negative Recruiting feature in dynasty or online dynasty. Instead of recruiting a player to your school you can take one of the recruits top three schools and recruit against them. By selecting attributes the player likes about one school and convincing them they are bad things. I have a feeling that this one will be a big big upgrade that people love.

Madden 2010
Chain Gang- The Chain Gang is back in Madden, after a several year absence, you will now see on field referees and on field chain gang who come in for measurements on close plays and will move to get out of the way on plays towards the sideline

Fight For The Extra Yard- This year, Madden is making sure the play doesn't end till the whistle blows so if you are inches from that first down marker, drag a defender down to the ground for the extra inches. Same with the goal line, call the QB sneak with confidence knowing you can fight till the end.

Scrum On The Field-  Fumble, dive on it, dive on it. In the pile, don' know what to do? Fight for the ball thats what. Madden is introducing a fight for the ball, if you are going after a loose ball poke it away from the other team before the referee unpiles everyone. Save that possession and score that touchdown.

It's The Little Things- Wonder why the Steelers helmets don't have the single digit numbers to the right of the line? Why do the quarterbacks not have towels? Can someone please give us some uniform patches for big games? Yep, EA sports can. With small improvements including more accurate uniform development, patches for super bowls, and yes even towels for players on wet rainy game days EA tries to find the little things to impress every gamer.

So there you have it. These are just a couple of the things to look for in this year's versions of NCAA and Madden 2010. But seriously, what's your game? Are you NCAA or Madden? We will keep this post in the archives and bring it out when the games are released and see what we think of the features. Let's go to the Post Game!
