Oregon gets its wings
Ducks expand football wardrobe options... again
By Anthony May|Posted 06.25.09

Love 'em or hate 'em, the Nike-designed Oregon football uniforms have been burning retinas for more than a decade. They've been covered in tread patterns, camouflaged, even given their own signature typeface, and now, they've got wings.

On Tuesday, the University of Oregon unveiled a new set of simplified, solid-colored uniform with tattoo-esque wings adorning their shoulders...

Kobe's got it covered
NBA 2K fans to vote for which Kobe graces cover
By Anthony May|Posted 06.08.09

Is it just me, or is Kobe Bryant everywhere?

Aside from the Lakers' quest for a 15th NBA Championship, Kobe's been on Sesame Street, 'did work' in a Spike Lee joint, been puppet-ized for Nike and was the subject of a Lil' Wayne tribute jam.

And while he may have lost his place on Mickael Pietrus' feet, Kobe has been named as the cover athlete for 2K Sports NBA 2K10....

FUNdamentals: Nike Apathy
Introducing the world's first sports-watching shoe
By Anthony May|Posted 06.05.09

Perhaps it's wishful thinking on my part, but with Nike already making a shoe for nearly every sport and sports-related activity, why not a pair of kicks created specifically for the sports watcher (or blogger)?

Peep my idea for said footwear...

So in honor of Antonio's first Big League 'W,' I'm drudging up a list of some of baseball's most unfortunately-named...

Court jester
Media attempts to create chink in King James' armor
By Danny Nicklin|Posted 06.01.09

After LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers lost Game Six of the Eastern Conference Finals, James left the court, leaving the Orlando Magic to celebrate their accomplishment. No handshakes, no hugs.

But it was refreshing to see a player so emotionally wrapped up in his team's failure to meet great expectations, that he couldn't do anything else except leave....

Mercury losing their identity
WNBA teams look for revenue with jersey sponsors
By Anthony May|Posted 06.01.09

I can just hear the PA announcer now, "Introducing your Phoenix Life... uh... Mercury!"

With an announcement on Monday, the Phoenix Mercury did all but change their name to match their new jersey sponsor, LifeLock. The WNBA franchise introduced a new partnership with identity-theft protection company LifeLock, which will see the company's logo replacing "Phoenix" and "Mercury" on the team's game-day duds....
