New FX comedy to follow fantasy footballers
Anyone who's ever bemoaned the two-back system or protested a trade can tell you that you'll never find a more comedically-dramatic place than a fantasy football league.
It looks like the folks over at FX (surprise!) are harnessing that drama for
a new (un)reality show.
Dubbed
The League, the show is being helmed by the creative team behind Larry David's
Curb Your Enthusiasm and will most likely follow that show's semi-scripted format.
As long as there's more more "script" than "reality" going on here, I think it'll have a chance, though incorporating real life fantasy happenings (injuries, roster moves, et al) into the storylines could make it quite interesting. Either way, it looks like it'll be a sports-nerdgasm on the level of
Madden Nation.
Of course, if it's only half as funny as the draft scene from "Knocked Up," we'll all be in for a treat.
