Recently, I was perusing through a semi-new Sports Illustrated and came across an advertisement featuring Phil and Chris Simms on a golf course, apparently drinking Bigelow brand green tea. The print for the add read, "Look who's drinking Bigelow Green Tea now."

Well.....YEAH! Of course they do. Chris probably had green tea in his IV after he had his spleen removed. What? Were Esera Tuaolo and Jeff Garcia not available on the day of the photo shoot?

What I don't understand, is the need to target the "Simms-adoring, golf-course-frequenting" crowd for green tea advertisements. Reason being, that crowd already downs green tea like Danny Devito downs limoncellos before going on The View (or like Billy Sims drinks vodka before going to the 2008 Heisman Awards Ceremony).

I think that if they're trying to get football people to schlug down their product, the people at Bigelow Green Tea need to target the "tough guy" crowd. How about Ray Lewis and Bill Romanowski cozying up in the living room with a couple of tea bags, captioned: "Every week before we watch Grey's Anatomy, we start the evening off right... with a cup of Bigelow Green Tea."

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that father and son Sims have no future in advertising, but again, let's use Phil and Chris to introduce their following to a new product.

Here's an example: Super Bowl champ and his spleenless son at the Compton Swap Meet,
shootin' dice. Scrawled above them in Olde English: "Look who's drinking Colt 45 now!"
