Pats using social media hub to grow web presence
The New England Patriots aren't exactly known for doing things "by the book" (or even by the "letter of the law," while I'm spouting cliches).
So it shouldn't come as a surprise that, in an age where professional and collegiate sports teams are
banning Twitter and developing strict
social media policies, Belichick's Bunch is embracing the latest tech trend.
The football club has launched a new feature on their Facebook page, with the horribly-unimaginative moniker, "Fan Zone." The new section (which you can
access here) gives fans a chance to play a custom Patriots prediction game, take a Pats quiz and access a handful of other nifty Facebook doodads.
Offering exclusive features that you won't even find on
Patriots.com, this investment in Facebook could be a precursor to a full migration to the social media hub. Just don't expect any mid-week injury updates from "
The Hoodie-ed One."
Can a Facebook page replace a team's website? Would you like to see something like this from your favorite team? Is this just a way for the Patriots to surreptitiously videotape users via their webcams?
