Saints keep winning, AP steals MNF spotlight
Headlines you may see Monday morning for three Week 4
match-ups. Along with the headlines, you'll find some of the talking
points to listen for from the probable commentators. Feel free to
rewrite your own headlines in the comment section, or write one for a
game not covered below.
"Saints offense marches on, defeat Jets"New York Jets at New Orleans (3:05 p.m. EST - Sunday - CBS)Commentators: TBA
Fantasy football darling Drew Brees versus Rex Ryan's defense will be the theme as this game between 3-0 teams begins. Special attention will be paid to Darrelle Revis because of his ability to shutdown the likes of Andre Johnson and Randy Moss in previous games. The Saints will throw early and often to get the Superdome crowd excited and the Jets defense on their heels. Saints will march on to 4-0.
"Chargers continue struggles in Steel City"San Diego at Pittsburgh (8:20 p.m. EST - Sunday - NBC)Commentators: Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth
You saw Mike Tomlin's press conference after last week's loss to the Bengals, didn't you? He's mad and will be eager to show a national audience that the defending Super Bowl champions are still a team to be reckoned with this year. And no team takes on the mentality of their coach as well as the Steelers. Pittsburgh will shut down Rivers and company and win a low-scoring battle.
"Peterson carries Favre, Vikes past Pack"Green Bay at Minnesota (8:30 p.m. EST - Monday - ESPN)Commentators: Ron Jaworski, Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden
All kinds of angles are being spewed out for this game. Obviously, the most attention is being given to Favre facing his old team and the pressure Aaron Rodgers is facing to make this a "statement" game.
Once Jaworski and Gruden calm down, they'll see that the difference in this game will be the offensive lines. Neither team has done well in protecting their quarterbacks, but after helping Bengals defensive end Antwan Odom do his best Reggie White impression, the Packers could really struggle against Jerad Allen, the Williams Wall and Ray Edwards.
And with all of the Favre-centric coverage, Adrian Peterson is primed to have a great, but quiet, game. In four games, AP has averaged over 100 yards against Green Bay. He'll have over 120 yards and score twice to steal the headlines and the victory. Oh, and this game will be the highest-rated cable television program in history. How's that for a prediction?
